Nouvelle série de billets (qui je l’espere depassera les trois exemplaires de Hypertext Weekly) consacré au songwriting. Je ne fais pas mon snob à utiliser un mot anglais : il n’y a simplement pas de mot français correspondant. Pas de mot qui évoque ce côté artisanal de l’écriture d’une chanson pop, musique paroles et mélodie. On passe tout de suite dans le pompeux, le formel et le compliqué (écriture, auteur compositeur etc …).

Having all the means available to be connected on a permanent basis seems so natural for us today. No one really is interested in the gory details of the infrastructure world (the infraworld indeed) of the machines, network and all these different technical assets that makes our many different electronic lives possible.

Mark Richards Core Memory project is a tribute to this infra world. Some kind of still life to the unsung heroes of the information age : the electronic machines and devices. (Thanks again SignalVsNoise for the link !).

Phineas X Jones posted an article on Signal Vs Noise on his art work for a folk rocker CD cover, his first ever. Phineas goes through every steps of the realisation, from the main idea to the twicky bit of photoshop. It is quite interesting to see how the idea blossom and how internet drastically speeds up the process.

But the truth is : the result is disappointing (and I wont show it here). Too complicated and technical, too many different colors and items. We just dont see what the real point is.

Radiohead aura donc réalisé le coup musical 2.0 de l’année : leur album In Rainbows en téléchargement (sur un site à la navigabilité plus artistique que commerciale), à un prix à la discrétion des internautes, potentiellement gratuit, donc. Le verdict est sans appel : cette opération leur aura rapporté plus que les royalties de tous les autres albums réunis.

Big up une nouvelle fois à André Gunthert et son remarquable blog. Un sujet passionnant sur les oeuvres du web en s’attardant sur 3 d’entre elles, célibrissimes à ce qu’il dit, mais dont j’ignorais l’existence : Everyday” de Noah Kalina (bouleversant), la vidéo de Michael Wesch, “The Machine is Us/ing Us“, et la “Groovy Dancing Girl“, chorégraphie ultra speedée sur l’implacable Harder Better Faster Stronger de la machine post-industrielle à Moonwalk : Daft Punk.

L’article propose une vraie reflexion sur les nouvelles oeuvres digitales mais en conclusion se moque ouvertement des artistes qui pleurnichent sur leur difficulté à vivre en ces temps ADSLiens. A bit unfair, really.

Une bien longue absence … Il est particulièrement étrange de passer d’une période de blogging intense à une période de détachement à l’égard de la reflexion electronique. Anyway … En raison du cadre de ma nouvelle mission (un poste d’encadrement cette fois-ci) je n’ai pas eu ces dernières semaines beaucoup de temps pour blogger. Pour vous dire la vérité, on ne dirait pas que l’internet mondial en ait pâti.

Toujours est-il qu’il me faut bien m’y remettre et que pour la reprise c’est un gros n’importe quoi cynique : au programme : Supernormal, les inrocks 2.0, les parka Aigle, Facebook et son jumeau du coté obscur.

Dinosaur Jr - Beyond

Retour du Dinosaur Jr original pour un nouvel album qui reprend les choses là ou le groupe les avait laissées en avec Bug en 1988.

Dans un article de Chronicart (version papier uniquement) symptomatique de la presse rock parisienne, Wilfried Paris alimente la finesse de son analyse (solo = metal = prolo = ca pue) d’anecdoctes personnelles dont tout le monde se fiche ou de copier-coller du dossier de presse un peu n’importe comment.
